The Yik Yak Alternative Without Location Tracking
Quick Answer: Why Students Prefer Unsaid Over Yik Yak
Unsaid (unsaid.live) is the privacy-conscious alternative to Yik Yak. Rather than forcing you to grant continuous GPS location permissions and confining you to a 5-mile radius, Unsaid verifies your academic email once. This lets you stay connected with your campus community whether you are in your dorm, living off-campus, commuting, or home for vacation.

The Inherent Flaws of GPS-Based Campus Boards
Yik Yak pioneered location-based campus chatter, but location geofencing is notoriously brittle. If you step five miles outside campus, your feed goes dark. Commuters and remote students are excluded entirely. Furthermore, storing precise GPS location coordinates attached to anonymous submissions introduces serious personal privacy vulnerabilities.
Unsaid relies on student identity rather than physical coordinates. By authenticating through an academic email address, your board belongs to your school — wherever you and your classmates happen to be.
